About Cleveland EWGA

Founded in 1992, EWGA Cleveland has approximately 130 members golfing at an assortment of courses throughout NE Ohio.  In addition to weekly evening nine hole golf leagues, EWGA Cleveland hosts tournaments and events, provides networking opportunities, education and volunteer opportunities and access to National EWGA benefits, such as the annual Chapter Championship and the Champions Cup Tournament.

Letter from the President

Dear EWGA Members,

It is the middle of January and the EWGA board is busy putting the finishing touches on an awesome schedule of events for the 2016 golf season. We are about one month ahead of last year in getting the schedule out to all of our members and that could not happen without the help of all of board members.

Our goal again for this year is to expand our membership and build an even stronger EWGA organization.

We would like to kick-off the season early with an evening at the Golf Dome in Chagrin Falls - "Swing into Spring" and dust the rust off your golf swing. Please join us on February 11th from 6 PM – 8 PM. EWGA will be providing snacks and beverages, and the best part it is FREE! Please bring a friend and/or anyone interested in joining EWGA. Details are on the web site and pass the word.

Exciting news from National this year; the Cleveland chapter has been selected to host the District Semi-Final Championship this year, either August 20th or 27th, with the location to be determined yet.  We will be looking for a number of volunteers to help with this event.

We also have a "just for fun" evening planned at the Northfield Rockcino on April 4th. It will be a great way to see all of your golf buddies before the season starts.

Some of the other exciting events planned for 2016 include the season Kick-off event on April 17th with league play starting the week of April 24th. We are bringing back the Spring Training session focusing on your short game, as well as the usual Nine ‘n Wine, Member Guest, Course Challenge and Chapter Championship.

The complete schedule of events is on the website below, so please mark your calendars for all of these great events planned for 2016!  Look  for emails and registration information from (put us in your address book so you will not miss anything).

2015 EWGA Cup

The 2015 Great Lakes Qualifier for the EWGA Cup Match Play series was held in Palmerton, Pa on October 3 & 4 at the Blue Shamrock Golf Course.  The weather was cold and rainy but that didn't inhibit the Cleveland team of the Erie Eagles from scoring 7 and 1/2 points to secure a place in the finals to be held at the Reunion Resort in Orlando, Florida on November 13 and 14.  CONGRATULATIONS to Eileen McCarthy, Kelli Chronister, Pat Blackmon, Denise Andres, Jo Dangel, Kristen Miller, Diane Kovachik and Gloria Merritt for the team win.  Team Hot in Cleveland with members Sue Williams, Maria Kamenos, Terry Baxter, Donna Shreiber, Andy Shimek, Leigh Murray, Gwen Virag and Carolyn Caplan also participated and finished with 5 and 1/2 points. Member Tamie Myers to play in an 18 hole Scramble before LPGA Kingsmill, Va

EWGA Cleveland member Tamie Myers bid on the EWGA Foundation Auction for a spot in the Wednesday Pro-Am before the LPGA tournament at Kingsmill GC, Virginia in May.  She will play an eighteen-hole scramble with other amateurs and two (2) LPGA pros--one on the front nine and another one on the back nine.  The event includes a party on Tuesday night (food, music, drinks, gift bag) with the LPGA pros.

Tamie said "I didn't think I'd win so I was shocked to get an email from EWGA National saying I'd won.  Now I have to practice before I go because my game was way off at league on Monday."  Best of luck Tamie!
